90 Day Fiancé star Daniele Gates's basketball player ex-boyfriend Taylen Alexander from Miami is the reason why Yohan Geronimo wants to break up.
90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way season 4 couple Yohan Geronimo and Daniele Gates’ married life issues began when her ex-boyfriend, Taylen Alexander, was introduced to their storyline. The 42-year-old moved to the Dominican Republic after her wedding in 90 Day Fiancé: Love In Paradise, when Yohan expected to relocate to the U.S. to earn a living. Yohan started feeling resentment towards Daniele, which grew when her ex-boyfriend visited them during his vacation in the Dominican Republic. Daniele and Yohan were still together during the Tell-All, but he announced he wanted to split during part 3.
Daniele moved permanently to the Dominican Republic, and it was also the first anniversary of their first meeting. While they were celebrating, Daniele started telling Yohan that she wanted to change his perspective because he felt she should not have friends who were men. Daniele told him he could have female friends and she could have guy friends. She said this as she broke the news about her “friend” from Miami, Taylen, being in the country.

Daniele told Yohan that Taylen used to live with her and that he plays basketball. Yohan asked her, “The one who used to be your boyfriend?” Daniele claims he was never her boyfriend; however, they were “together in the past.” Taylen had written to Daniele on Instagram a day before she told Yohan about him. “Taylen was a really important part of my life a few years ago,” explained Daniele; they even keep in touch once in a while. Taylen found out on social media that Daniele was in the Dominican Republic and reached out because he was on vacation and said that they “should link up.”
Daniele wanted Taylen to meet Yohan, but Yohan had a hard time agreeing to her request. While they were at the restaurant, Yohan asked Taylen how he met Daniele. Taylen said they met in Miami in 2020. They were in a relationship for four months after being friends. “So at first, we were friends for two or three weeks. But in the beginning, we said it wasn’t long-term [...] it was just for the pandemic, for fun, but not for life,” Daniele said to Yohan.

Yohan had asked Taylen to meet at a basketball court “since he’s a professional basketball player.” Taylen was good at his game, but Yohan almost beat him to it. Taylen claimed the “game was close,” but it was only because Yohan “wasn’t playing by the normal rules of one on one.” Taylen was finding it difficult to communicate with Yohan without his phone on the court. “But it was fun, he got a little skill,” Taylen admitted. Taylen is the same height as Yohan at 6 feet 5 inches. According to Eurobasket, Taylen has played in Mexico and the U.S. in the Swingman position after finishing college at Earlham in 2016.

Yohan rated his relationship with Daniele a “zero” out of 10 and declared he was only with her “until our lease is up” during the last 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way episode. Meanwhile, according to Starcasm, Daniele is currently in the DR after a recent U.S. work trip but has been doing Instagram live streams where she’s accused Yohan of cheating on her and being abusive. Daniele still appeared to be married to Yohan and hadn’t seemingly mentioned Taylen, but she had claimed, “I’m still here because all of my stuff is here, and my contract for my apartment ends on July 1.”
